Two Nights of Chekhov, Wine, & Cheese

Spend an evening with UTSA Professor Bonnie Lyons, literary expert and impassioned reader, to delve into the life of Anton Chekhov, a writer widely considered to be the father of the modern short story. One of Russia's greatest writers, Chekhov began his literary career writing jokes and anecdotes for popular magazines as a means to earn a living and, before dying at the age of 44, had revolutionized both the short story and drama. The evening will begin with an introduction to his life and an overview of his plays. Then, "The Cherry Orchard" will be discussed. A wine and cheese reception will be included to celebrate the varied charms and literary genius of this man.

May 11 will focus on three of his short stories and May 25 will focus on his play, "The Cherry Orchard." Tickets are $15 for one night/$25 for both.
